Bismillah Hafeez, native of Brooklyn, NY and Queen Yolanda born in Paterson, NJ have careers as songwriters and performers. The two met in the late 1990s, while taking vocal instruction at Chris Curry’s So You Want to be a Star. They united vocal talents to create one of the most entertaining duet groups in the NY/NJ metropolitan area.
In the mid 2000s, Hafeez released his first CD Album entitled “Interfaith Collaboration” in which he wrote and co-produced two songs “Allah-u-Akbar” and “Mercy”. Yolanda duet with Hafeez on the music recording. They sang his inspirational rendition of the Stylistics’ soulful classic “Brand New”.
Though they occasionally perform with other artists, their bond as a dynamic duet has not been compromised – it remains solid. They perform Soul/R&B classics from the 1960s to 1990s, as well as inspirational music. Their performances whether at Harlem Summer Stage, and other corporate and private events have been described as captivating and high energy.
Neither Hafeez, nor Yolanda takes their talents for granted; for it’s favor or gifts from God. They take pride in using their gifts to benefit and uplift humanity and to please the Most High.
